Compulsory Components

On request of our students the Department of Geology has clarified our policy regarding compulsory components on our courses. The policy is derived from the student rights list which states the following:

“The University has an obligation to ensure that an alternative date or assignment is offered to students who are not able to complete a compulsory component owing to circumstances beyond their control, e.g. accident, sudden illness or similar situation. This also applies to students who miss teaching owing to activities in an elected positon as student representative”

As a student you are expected to spend 40 hours per week to your studies and cannot expect to be offered a chance to compensate for what you have missed unless it is for the before mentioned reasons. Vacations should thus be planned outside of the academic year’s semesters.
