Sofia Feltzing
Professor of astronomy
My research focuses on understanding the Milky Way and it's formation.
I lead the astronomy group at the department of Geology. We are also part of the university wide Lund Observatory network.
In our work we make use of large optical and near-infrared surveys of stars in the Milky Way. Thanks to a generous grant by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation Lund University astronomers are members of 4MOST, the next generation massively mutliplex stellar survey of the Southern Skies. We are also members of WEAVE and SDSS-V which have been funded by grants from the Royal Physiographic Society and the Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation.
